Alas, Spring is in the air…or maybe it is just Spring product. Either way, I am feeling very excited. February deliveries will hit the stores in the blink of an eye and, like many of my fellow Capricorns and the Boy Scouts of America, my motto is “Be Prepared”.

Before I map out my seasonal purchase plan, I spend one afternoon perusing the Spring runway images and take note of moods, silhouettes, fabrications and color combinations that catch my eye (hello, perfection at Gaimbattista Valli!). I take inventory of what I own, pulling my favorite pieces from last year (as well as pieces that didn’t get much mileage) to see if I can breathe new life into them.

This focused approach helps to define my style and save me money by eliminating unnecessary purchases. The result is a streamlined, well-merchandised wardrobe that offers a fresh take with limited reinvestment (or the funds to invest in a special piece). Now that’s a great way to Spring forward.
