Pragmatic Indulgence

For me, Fall has always been all about texture. Whether it is cashmere, leather, calf hair or boucle one thing is certain – the more tactile, the better. And since all of this gorgeous texture comes with a higher price (and since selling my soul to the fall fashion devil is no longer an option) I have to be very strategic about my purchases.

The approach that works best for me is one that focuses on pragmatic indulgence. I start with a top line budget, identify the luxury items that I most gravitate toward, and start putting together hypothetical outfits. The three items that make the most sense to my lifestyle and wardrobe make the final cut.

This year, I am all about:
Black over-the-knee boots
The perfect suede jacket
A statement coat in a luxurious, lofty fabrication

I haven’t yet identified the perfect pieces to satisfy each category but I am on the lookout. The goal is to keep the cost per wear lower than my daily caffeine expenditure. Shouldn’t be too difficult considering all of the coffee I consume.
