Pre-Season Preparation

August 8th, 2017 admin

Hello friends! We are officially into the second week in August and, in my mind, that gives us express consent to fully lean into fall fashion. I am one of those people who has three fashion moods – anticipating fall, wearing fall, and fall withdrawal – and being on the cusp has me feeling like a goddamn kid at Christmas. While the weather may not yet cooperate, we can still get the ball rolling by proactively approaching the best shopping season of the year.

In advance to spending, I’d like to offer my pre-season mini edit strategy (what I like to call the 4 R’s) so that you are best equipped to spend wisely.

Reacquaint yourself with your pre-existing assortment: try on each piece and evaluate it’s validity.

Remind yourself of what worked well and what did not: buy deeper into categories that were useful and move past items that weren’t.

Reimagine your wardrobe with the infusion of a few key pieces: consider items or trends that you are gravitating toward and decide what would be the most worthwhile allocation of your budget.

Resist impulse purchases: make a shopping list and avoid unnecessary items that are not part of your sartorial journey.

And remember, retailers trickle in product so set an easy pace and align purchasing decisions with a buy now, wear now mentality. Any questions – just ask ali@alicallconsulting.com
