The Ghosts of Lifestyles Past and Present

December 23rd, 2015 admin

The holiday season is an opportunity for self-reflection and setting intentions for the year to come. As a wardrobe consultant, I find that this is a great time to approach the edit. The wardrobe edit is the first, and most important, step to a promising sartorial future. When done properly, it is also incredibly liberating.

Not to get all Dickensian on you, but the best way to move forward is by facing the ghosts of lifestyles past and present that are lurking in your closet. You must be fearless in the quest for an optimized wardrobe. Translation: EVERY SINGLE PIECE must be examined.

Here are some tips for successfully editing your wardrobe:

  1. Designate space for keep, consign and donate piles
  2. Try on every piece of clothing and view in a full length mirror
  3. Pay attention to fit and comfortability
  4. Be mindful of how an item makes you feel, regardless of functionality
  5. Keep only the items that spark joy or confidence

When approached thoroughly and honestly, your current and future sartorial needs will be revealed. Like Ebenezer Scrooge, facing your ghosts will give you the information you need to proceed in a more mindful fashion (pun intended).

Merry Christmas!
