Wardrobe Best Practices

June 6th, 2016 admin

As some of you already know, I linked up with GoodLooks, an online platform of vetted lifestyle experts, as one of their fashion stylists (www.goodlooks.me). As a busy, working mom with a penchant for compartmentalizing and overachieving, I love the concept of outsourcing to the optimize areas of my life that I’m not particularly adept at handling (ie meal planning and food prep). I’m admittedly a bit obsessed with the site as it has connected me with really amazing clients AND a super talented holistic health coach to get me back on track (my coffee and chocolate diet, although delicious, was not ideal).

In May I was asked to represent the GoodLooks fashion stylists at a VIP event and put together a list of hacks to help others optimize their wardrobes. Here are my 5 wardrobe best practices:

1) IT’S ALL ABOUT THE EDIT. Streamline your wardrobe and eliminate all white noise. Edit out items that are ill-fitting, uncomfortable or damaged.

2) BE INSPIRED. Choose items that spark joy and build your wardrobe around them. This “Star and Supporting Cast” mentality will ensure that you always look great and feel confident.

3) SHOP STRATEGICALLY. Create a strong foundation of versatile, harmonizing pieces to maximize your outfit matrix, Be proactive in your approach by building a wardrobe suited to your lifestyle and calendar needs.

4) FOCUS ON COST PER WEAR. Build a wardrobe of high quality, versatile pieces with staying power. Cost per wear is more relevant than price, so finding special pieces with multiple ways to wear is the best approach.

5) CONTINUALLY EVOLVE. Stay inspired and continue to curate your look, choosing fashion forward and trend right items only when they complement your individual style.
