Winter Chic 101: Coats and Accessories

November 28th, 2014 admin

No matter how much I focus on Resort 2015 product and no matter how much I wish it wasn’t so…the hard truth remains. Winter is upon us. And, since this is one area that being fashionably late can result in frostbite, there is no time like the present to take advantage of holiday discounts and stock up on cold-weather items.

In an effort to chicly combat winter temps, here are some shopping tips for coats and accessories:

Be Strategic: invest in a coat that has warming power AND staying power. Your coat should last at least three years, so choose a quality piece with classic details.

Be Realistic: whether it be a parka, a thinsulate-lined wool coat or a full length fur, it is important to buy a coat that truly covers your needs. Buy a coat for the lifestyle you have, not the lifestyle you want.

Be Optimistic: purchase cold-weather accessories that make you happy. I tend to buy accessories that are fun and functional and focus on coordinating (rather than matching) pieces for a personalized look.

Winter is just another opportunity for creativity – so choose coats and accessories that allow you to shine when the sun doesn’t want to. Take that, mother nature.
