When I decided to relocate from a huge house in DC to a much smaller space in Brooklyn last year, I faced numerous challenges. I went from being married in the suburbs with a nanny to single mom of a toddler and alone in the city. It was a huge shock to my system and, as anyone who knows me can attest, when I am stressed I organize. And organize I did.
In the process of downsizing my closet and my life I spent a lot of time at The Container Store. One challenge I always faced when merchandising my closet was what to do with all of my scarves. I have so many pretty options but they get lost in the shuffle when they aren’t all visible. Since I am renting and don’t have the luxury of a custom built-in, I came up with the idea to fold and stack my scarves in a hanging canvas shoe rack in my front closet. I love that they are in the same closet as my coats, totally visible and accessible.
