New Year, New Donation

The new year coincides with another fresh start for my family in 2018: Grey and the pups and I finally moved into our new home. We are excited and very much looking forward to settling in to a more relaxed life in Massachusetts. And, while I’m sure at some point I will say that building a home was the right choice, right now I’m still slightly traumatized by the experience and I have a house full of boxes to unpack.

The upside to the project taking four months longer than estimated: a dissolved emotional attachment to clothing that I once held dear. I’m not sure if this renewed freedom is a result the pieces being tucked away in a storage unit for half of the year, or of letting go of the complexities of a life lived in New York City, but it feels liberating and I’m going with it.

Coincidentally, one of my intentions for 2018 is to lean into service in my new community, and to do so in a way that feels personal. So, instead of consigning and buying more clothing, I am going to sell the clothing on Poshmark and donate the funds to a local family in need. New year, new way to have a positive impact 🙂
