A wise woman once told me that I would only truly find my way in life if I continually push myself out of my comfort zone and I consider this some of the best advice that I have ever been given. I had an experience today where I did just that and, although I don’t want to disclose any details until I am sure of the outcome, it was exhilarating and totally worthwhile.
It got me thinking about my clients and how they push themselves out of their comfort zones with wardrobe consulting. I recently had a client that reluctantly contacted me for an appoinment. She wasn’t 100% sold on the service since her husband had a bad experience in the past with a personal shopper but she was at a sartorial loss. I could sense her anguish at the initial consultation, especially as I identified items to replace.
Fast forward one month. The buy plan has been executed and merchandising and styling visual guides have been created. I introduced new silhouettes, colors and styling suggestions and she loves her new wardrobe. She stepped out of her comfort zone and into a whole new sartorial world and, given the number of thank you emails she has sent me, I think she would attest that change is a wonderful thing. Give it a chance – you have nothing to lose but opportunity.
