When Less Becomes More

One of the most common missteps I see when working with new clients is that they have a “closet full of clothes but nothing to wear”. This closet conundrum is almost always an issue of having too much, as a crammed closet is a lot harder to navigate. When you can’t see what you own, you can’t connect with it. And when you can’t connect, you don’t feel supported by your wardrobe.

I often find that clients will buy deeper into categories in which they are already saturated in an attempt to alleviate the struggle, only making it worse. One thing is certain, adding pieces without addressing the preexisting assortment is rarely the answer.

The true solution is to EDIT.

Reacquaint yourself with what you already own and consider the appropriation of each piece to your current style and lifestyle. The process of streamlining your closet will reveal styling opportunities that you wouldn’t have known existed beforehand. It will also reveal cracks in the foundation that can be addressed with focused shopping. It’s a short term strategy with a long term gain, and in my opinion, that is the best wardrobe investment you can make.
